EFFEKT Design A Spiralling Treetop Experience in Denmark
Copenhagen-based architectural and design firm EFFEKT has just unveiled some unique plans for The Treetop Experience in the Gisselfeld Klosters Skove forest. Designed to give users an incredible experience above the forest canopy, the Treetop Experience is a 600m treetop walk which culminates in a stunning 45m tall observation tower.
The Treetop Experience by EFFEKT is located in Gisselfeld Klosters Skove forest, one hour south of Copenhagen, Denmark. Designed to give its users another perspective of the stunning forest, the experience begins with a 600m long seamless continuous ramp which ends in a stunning spiral tower.
The forest itself features several natural landmarks such as lakes, creeks and wetlands, with the walkway intended to show these off in all their glory. The new Treetop Experience by EFFEKT will be part of Camp Adventure, an existing adventure sports facility in the forest that includes treetop climbing and aerial zip lines.
The route through the trees is split into a higher and a lower walkway. The high walkway will pass through the oldest parts of the forest, while the tower and the lower walkway are located in the younger areas with the experience’s highlight, the observation tower, located 45m above the ground.
The geometry of the EFFEKT-designed tower is shaped to enhance the visitor experience, doing away with the typical cylindrical shape in favour of a curved profile with a slender waist and enlarged base and crown. The idea is that while it also gives the observation deck better views, the shape also allows for better contact to the forest canopy.
