Introducing a New Form of Holidaying – Helicopter Glamping
Ever wondered what it would be like to sleep in helicopter converted into a luxury abode? Us neither. That is until now! Take a look at this awesome Helicopter Glamping concept at Mains Farm, Stirling in Scotland, complete with original features including a cockpit.
Yes, some wacky folk in Scotland have converted a Sea King helicopter into a stunning luxury overnight accommodation complete with mini kitchen and shower room. It was originally purchased at auction in 2016 for just £7,000 having been decommissioned by the MOD.
The Sea King was then lovingly restored with the original paintwork sanded and repainted to its former glory, and all her original signage kept. The original lighting was also kept and restored, so when you see her lit up at night she looks as if she is ready to take off.
But while most of the original features have been kept, don’t worry you won’t have to sleep on a bare floor. The inside has been transformed into a remarkable holiday home which sleeps up to a family of five (2 adults and 3 children) with a double and a triple bed as well as single bed in the tail. There’s also a small kitchen and shower room.
The real focal point of the interior, however, is the incredible cockpit which comes with spectacular views over the Carse of Stirling. The flight deck has been refitted with swivel seats and a table made from an old fuel tank cover and painted with an RAF roundel. The cockpit’s original dashboard, roof panel switches and foot pedals have also been retained for some real authenticity.
Head over to the Helicopter Glamping Website now, where you book a night with prices starting at £150 for two adults. Children are priced at £10 a head per night.
