We do love a beautiful piece of design and architecture here at Average Joes – almost as much as we love a unique hotel. So it’s no great surprise that we’re totally in love with the look of Hotel Hubertus in Italy which features a 25m-tall infinity swimming pool, complete with glass bottom.
The Hotel Hubertus is located right in the heart of the South Tyrolean Dolomites and has recently been resigned by architecture studio NOA to offer Joes and Janes dramatic views of the surrounding mountains and the valley of the Val Pusteria from their newly built 12m-tall infinity pool.
Hotel Hubertus is a holiday resort for skiers, hikers and couples in the Italian province of South Tyrol. Located at the foot of Kronplatz Mountain, the new swimming pool is projected 17m from the front of the hotel and is raised 12m above the ground by the trunks of native larch trees.
While the pool has slightly raised sides, they act as a barrier and don’t cause obstruction to the stunning views. The front features an angled glass wall, while a glazed opening on the bottom of the pool offers views of the ground below. Panels of dark grey stone cover the structure and are intended to resemble the colours of the surrounding landscape.
The hotel itself is fronted by semi-circular balconies with perforated metal balustrades with the same debarked larch trunks used on the swimming pool structure, creating a link between the new and the old, according to NOA.
There are 16 suites in total at Hotel Hubertus, each furnished in traditional country house style, traditional cockle stove and luxury bathroom with panoramic stand-alone bathtubs. They also all naturally give views of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If you’re not familiar with South Tyrol and its Dolomites, we think you should be. The northern Italy region offers Joes the perfect opportunity for a relaxing weekend away or if you’re a little more adventurous, there’s always the options of hiking during the Summer and skiing during the Winter.
Prices to stay at the Hotel Hubertus begin at around the £120 a night mark and rise depending on the season and accommodation. Head over to the Hotel Hubertus Website for more details and to check availability.
