How Much Would It Cost to Travel Like Superman?
We’ve all answered the question at one point or another; ‘If you could have one superhero ability, what would it be?’ While the power of invisibility and strength usually score high, the most frequent response is the power of flight. This is for many reasons, but mainly because it would be stupidly brilliant to travel the world on a whim, just like Superman.
But to travel the world in our boring human form with the agility, swiftness and cool charisma of Superman could cost you an arm and a leg. If you don’t have the bank account of Lex Luther or the transformation abilities of Clark Kent, you may feel as though you need to get a loan out to travel the world.
Well, someone has actually done the maths for you! Taking into account four of the solo Superman films – so Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman Returns (2006), and Man of Steel (2013) – the good folks at TrustTwo have created an interactive map, costing the entire trip the Metropolis Marvel takes along his way to saving the planet.
Taking into account absolutely everything, including the trip to Grand Central Station from Lois Lane’s apartment, as well as a quick hop into space (which is the equivalent of 57 flights around the world), the first Superman film alone would cost you a gigantic $359,399, or around £280,000 in travel.
Add in a further $768,426 for Superman II (he goes to the North Pole remember), $1,056,500 for Superman Returns, and a measly $513,940 for Man of Steel, and your whole Superman travel package comes to a whopping $2,698,265. That’s £2,099,163.72 in British money. Maybe we’ll just pray for the superpower instead…
