The Arcade Hotel, Amsterdam
Boutique hotels are all the rage these days and while we like them as much as the next Joe, we love the sound of the Arcade Hotel in Amsterdam even more. Based around retro gaming, each of the Arcade Hotel’s 36 rooms include consoles and games for your personal gaming pleasure.
The Arcade Hotel, in terms of décor, looks pretty much like any other 3-Star central-Amsterdam hotel. But with contemporary interiors inspired by mid-century designs, Joes can geek out to their hearts content with games consoles everywhere they turn.
Along with consoles in every room, Joes can borrow extra handhelds for multi-player games. As well as your Xbox Ones and PS4s, you’ll find a large selection of retro devices and gaming events and tournaments are naturally a regular occurrence. Not only that, the hotel has a comic book library for your perusal.
While the ‘Arcade’ bit of this Hotel is obviously the selling point, the owners are also keen to emphasise other aspects of their abode. The food, for example, is described as ‘the real deal’, with a vast array of Dutch cheeses and waffles on offer for breakfast, and weirdly Canadian cuisine (like poutine) available throughout the day.
As you’ll be in Amsterdam, it’s only natural that you’ll want to do as the Dutch do and grab yourself a bike. Lucky for you the Arcade Hotel has its own ‘bikegantomatic’ fleet of bikes that Joes can rent out as and when.
The Arcade Hotel is located in the De Pijp area of Amsterdam so there’s plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés around, as well as a daily food market. Prices range between £60-225 a night (€75-350), depending on room size and when you go. Head over to the Arcade Hotel Website to check availability.
