World’s Longest Zip Line Set to Open in UAE
No strangers to ‘the world’s biggest’ titles, a new zip line in set to open in the United Arab Emirates. With the exact length of the zip line remaining a closely-guarded secret, it’s hoped the multi-million dollar product’s opening will propel the city of Ras Al Khaimah into the major leagues of global adventure tourism.
Set to open in December on the Jebel Jais mountain top, the zip line has been designed in partnership with Toro Verde, the world’s leading zip line operator. The current world record for a zip line stands at 2,200 meters and is held by ‘The Monster’ in Puerto Rico. Though the exact length of Jebel Jais’ line is unknown, we do know it’ll enter the record books.
The new zip line will be accessible at the tallest mountain in the UAE, Jebel Jais, close to the city of Ras Al Khaimah. Part of the spectacular Hajar Mountains which were formed over 70 million years ago, Jebel Jais stand nearly 2,000 metres above sea level.
The mountain range offers breath-taking scenery as well as a welcome respite from the heat of the beach resorts with temperatures around 10°C cooler. On top of a viewing deck offering a stunning panoramic, Jebel Jais also features a ‘via ferrata’ (a protected climbing route) which is popular among thrill seekers in the area.
The zip line will also be of interest to eco-lovers, as it will use solar energy and locally-sourced natural materials ensuring visitors enjoy the natural experience in the Emirates’ mountain landscape. It will be open to all ages, providing participants meet required minimum weight of 35kg and maximum weight of 150kg, and a minimum height of 120cm.
The longest zip line of the world in Ras Al Khaimah will open the first week of December. Head over to the Jebel Jais Website for more details.
