Wutopia Lab's Metal Rainbow Bookstore Is a Thing of Beauty

The Sanctuary of Crystal

Located at the entrance of the store, ‘The Sanctuary of Crystal’ is a space full of books and essentially nothing else. The latest releases are arranged in the crisp white space on pre-fabricated transparent acrylic shelves, with the space also featuring glass bricks, and mirrors, luring customers into the heart of the store.

The Cave of Fireflies

After the neutrality and tranquillity of the entrance, ‘The Cave of Fireflies’ offers guests a darker experience. The Cave is a darker tunnel which connects the main hall and the entrance, and customers will pick books and follow the guide of optic fibres into the main reading area.

The Xanadu of Rainbows

The Cave of Fireflies then leads through to the main area and reading room of the book shop, named ‘The Xanadu of Rainbows.’ The large, open space makes for a great contrast to the narrow and dimly lit tunnel. Natural light seeps in thanks to the large windows, but the real stand out feature is the perforated aluminium sheets in rainbow colours. 1cm thin, the panels divides the book shop into different zones.

The Castle of Innocence

At the very end of the Xanadu, you’ll find the dedicated children’s books area, ‘The Castle of Innocence.’ The room is filled with complex installations, including some perforated aluminium sheets shaped like windows, which combine to create a child-friendly environment where play and reading are encouraged.
