Whilst men’s skincare products are in the ascendency, and seem to be everywhere at the moment, it’s often difficult to know which one brands to choose. The sight of an entire aisle crammed with shaving creams, moisturisers, and other mysterious facial paraphernalia is often too much to bear and, consequently, many of us settle with the single pot of moisturiser given to us at Christmas. Thanks Auntie.
Clinique, however, are aiming to eliminate at least some of the confusion with their portfolio of various dermatological products for men. These include cleansing, moisturising, ex-foliating, and shaving products, and have been described by the company as an ‘intuitive collection of products specifically designed to meet men’s unique needs.’
They have tried to simplify it to three recommended stages, three steps to achieve healthy skin then?
Firstly, cleanse using a face wash or a face soap. There are two products available in the range for this stage, and both do pretty much the same thing – cleaning without drying out, and prepping the skin for shaving.
The next step is exfoliating. Clinique bring to the table ‘Ex-foliating Tonic’, which is also claimed to reduce the risk of ingrown hairs and blemishes.
Then, once you’ve done this, all that remains is to moisturise. The standard product for this step is the aptly named ‘Moisturising Lotion’, although Clinique also offer more specific lotions including an oil-control moisturiser and one fight off signs of aging. There’s even a product, ‘Broad Spectrum SPF 21 Moisturiser’, which provides sun protection at the same time.
So these are the three basic steps to keeping your skin healthy, though of course when dealing with a brand as big as Clinique, there are of course a few other products in the range. These include shaving gel, post-shave soother, anti-age eye cream, and dark spot corrector, amongst others.
The products are available in most health and beauty retailers, and given the history and heritage, are sure to make their way into a few washbags this summer. Check out the video below.
