Football boot wars are hotting up with Nike and adidas going head to head on pretty much anything and everything. Last week it was Nike who stole the show releasing concrete details of their all-in-one Nike Magista Boots whilst adidas could only confirm theirs are in development and will be with us within the year. Today however is adidas biting back, with their lightest boot ever, the adidas adizero f50 crazylight.

Apart from the fact that adidas seem to hate capital letters, what else do we know? Well firstly it is the lightest boot ever produced by anyone, including Nike and weighs in at just 135g, shaving over 25grams (20%) on the current adidas lightest, the adizero f50. Secondly the boots will be worn for the very first time by the one and only Gareth Bale as Real Madrid take on FC Shalke 04 in the 2nd leg, Champions League clash on Tuesday 18th March.

The uppers features an all new and lightweight skin which provide the majority of the weight reduction, whilst still giving protection and support to the foot. The base of the f50 crazylight has also been changed with the SPEEDTRAXION studs moving places to provide more traction whilst reducing weight and the outsole is laser etched with a protective anodized coating.

Gareth Bale said: “I’ve tried them out already in training and they feel great. I can’t wait to wear them on field. Lightweight boots definitely give me an advantage over the competition and I feel faster and more agile the lighter the boots become. Hopefully I can score a few goals in them over the next few weeks.”

The all new adidas adizero™ f50 crazylight will be available from 1st April from www.adidas.com/football.
