The Champions League returned last night after a two month absence. And to coincide with the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League knockout stages, adidas has revealed the ‘Finale Istanbul’ official match ball for the final set to take place in Istanbul in May.
The Champions League final will travel to Turkey in May, where East and West. Fusing football and Istanbul’s art culture, adidas have placed the Champions League white stars on top of a hand drawn artistic interpretation of a map of Istanbul.
At the centre of the map is the Bosporus narrow, a natural waterway that flows through the country and Istanbul itself to merge East and West. To bring the map pattern to life, the adidas designers first crafted it by carving in wood, before printing with lino. The purple colour palette is said to be inspired by the hues of the setting sun over the river.
Naturally, the ball features the latest adidas performance technology, offering the same high-performance structure and panels as recent iterations of the iconic star ball. An outer texture coating gives the ball a secure grip, while the panels are thermally bonded with more sustainable glue to provide a seamless surface for an improved first touch.
The adidas Finale Istanbul ball for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League will be used until the Final takes place in Istanbul on 30 May 2020. The football is available to purchase now over on the adidas Website, as well as in adidas stores and select retailers. Prices start from £29.95.
