adidas NFL 40-Yard Dash Challenge
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a speedster, the adidas are offering you the chance to win $1 million USD. All you need to do is break the record for the fastest ever 40-Yard sprint and do it wearing their new adizero 5-Star 40 boots!
We love our NFL here at Average Joes but for those uninitiated, every year NFL hopefuls coming out of college take part in what’s known as ‘The Combine’, where they’re put through their paces so teams can judge the physical condition of each player. One of the most famous exercises is the 40-Yard Dash to judge a potential players’ speed.
The official 40-yard dash record at the combine currently stands at 4.24 seconds and is held by two Joes; a relative unknown named Rondel Menendez who broke it in 1999; and Chris Johnson – one of only seven players to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season – who equalled it in 2008.
In recent years, adidas has made a number of offers to Joes who beat the dash record. In 2013, they offered an endorsement deal; in 2014 they offered $100,000 to the single fastest time, and the same amount was awarded in 2015 to the top three fastest times. This year, they’ve upped the ante to $1 million but you’ll have to wear adidas adizero 5-Star 40 boots, specifically designed for the dash.
The adidas adizero 5-Star boots are light. Very light, in fact, weighing in at only 4.9 ounces (139g). They feature some rather awesome photo-realistic 3D fire graphics and use adidas’ SprintSkin upper for reinforcement in key support zones, as well as a SprintFrame plate for some much needed acceleration.
Think you’re in with a chance? You should probably know that no one has even come close in recent years with the fastest time from 300 prospects coming from an unknown wide receiver named Willie Quinn who ran it in 4.34 seconds.
