adidas Primeknit 2.0
The 2014/15 football season is drawing to a close but that doesn’t mean the big brands are slowing down with their football boot release schedule. Launching on April 22nd 2015, the adidas Primeknit 2.0 is being billed as a gamechanger thanks to its revolutionary one-piece yarn-knit upper and newly added techfit collar. Tonight will see some of Europe’s top players debut the boots in the Uefa Champions League Quarter Final second-legs.
Last year we saw a version of the adidas Primeknit 2.0 which was only a prototype and worn by Luis Suarez. This time they are back with the real thing and have managed to get some of their top athletes wearing them tonight – Suarez, Torres, Moura, Lavezzi and Morata will all be wearing the purple/green Primeknit 2.0 in the UCL Quarters. The soleplate is based on the already successful adizero f50 boot and has been engineered for quick turns and change of pace. A re-designed collar means there is more protection around the ankle area which is quite a welcome addition as many boots (minus the Magista boots) don’t provide any protection where players are most vulnerable.
These boots promise unrivalled comfort thanks to the one-piece upper which will lock the boot firmly in place. More and more brands are moving towards this more responsive feel through different materials and more snug fits. A vaccuum coated skin protects the boots to ensure they retain their performance and looks in all weather conditions. These will also be slightly more accessible than the recently launched adidas adizero 99g boots (only 299 pairs available globally) with a production run of 10,000. With the Nitrocharge, Adipure 11 pro, Adizero and long time favourites, Predator boots being discontinued this year, the new adidas Primeknit 2.0 is a sign of things to come. And if the future looks like this, we can certainly get on board with that.
