Cycling has always been one of the ways to get around the city. It’s efficient, saves space at home and also burns some calories in the process. But it doesn’t come without its flaws – one of the biggest being navigation. BeeLine is a stripped back, intuitive, navigation device designed to put the Joes back in control of their journey.
The BeeLine is a handlebar-mounted device that helps you find your way around while you’re riding. The real difference to most navigation systems is BeeLine strips it back to bare basics. Doing away with turn commands, this navigation system simply points you in the general direction of your destination and tell you the distance to go – no instructions.
While that might sound counter-intuitive at first, when you think about it, there are tons of positives. Firstly, cyclists become more engaged in the journey and can discover all kinds of hidden gems you wouldn’t find on major routes. You also can’t go wrong, so it’s completely stress free!
It’s also safer. By being free to take turns that feel easier as and when you like, you won’t feel as if you’re being pushed into turns that don’t feel safe. You also won’t be checking the interface every two seconds which means you can keep your eyes firmly fixed on the road around you.
For the rare occasions where you do need to go to a specific point, such as a bridge over a river, BeeLine has a built in option to add intermediate way points to your journey so you’ll never get stuck.
The BeeLine is very easy to install and simply snaps into place on the flexible strap provided with attaches to your bike. All Joes need to then do is select a destination via the free app.
BeeLine’s backlit e-paper screen is visible under any conditions and it’s weatherproof/shockproof so you’re covered no matter the light, weather or terrain. You’ll also get around 1-3 months of use between charges.
When not in use, your BeeLine can be thrown in your pocket or bag without worrying about damaging the screen. It also comes with a lovely looking aluminium buckle so you can attach it to your keys for easy access.
We love the look of the BeeLine smart navigation system. It’s simply, effective and should look great on any bike. It’s being sold on Kickstarter where they’ve already reached their target with over 20 days to go. Head over to the Beeline Kickstarter Website where Joes can get hold of one for a reasonable £39.
