EPL Predictions & Team News 20 - 21 April 13

10 fixtures in the EPL this weekend, and lots up for grabs in both the relegation scrap and the hunt for European places, so without further ado let’s take a look!

Fulham v Arsenal – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

Arsenal managed to seize the initiative in the hunt for a Champions League spaces with their dramatic comeback against Norwich, but let a bit of the advantage slip when they were unable to finish off Everton in midweek. They will want to be picking up the full three points today.

Premier League Team News: Steve Sidwell returns from suspension for Fulham, who have doubts over Riether.  Frimpong is ineligible. Szczesny will be back in goal for The Gunners as Fabianski has cracked a rib.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-3
Dream Team Star Man: Mikel Arteta

Norwich v Reading – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

With ten minutes to play last weekend every was looking rosy for The Canaries, they were beating Arsenal and looked like EPL football was secured for another season at least. How quickly things can change!! A couple of iffy decisions put paid to that!

This is a must win for Norwich, who must fancy their changes and will hope they can carry on the good showing from their Youth Team who reached the FA Cup Final midweek.

Premier League Team News: John Ruddy and Antony Pilkington both return to the Norwich squad after lengthy lay-offs. Jimmy Kebe will be rushed back into action by The Royals.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1 (No way! 3 – 1, Norwich – Joe)
Dream Team Star Man: Alex McCarthy

QPR v Stoke – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

Stoke have only won one game in their last 13, and perhaps more worryingly have only scored 2 in their last 7 and will find travelling to West London a hard proposition even though QPR are doomed.

Harry still thinks his QPR team can get out of trouble and stay in the top flight, we just can’t see that happening.

Premier League Team News: Rangers have no new injury worries, but Zamora is still suspended. Stoke have a few injury niggles, but Wilson should be fit to play.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Loic Remy

Sunderland v Everton – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

Where did that derby performance last week come from? It had everything!! Great goals, even better celebrations from a manager and horse punching! The Black Cats now have a bit of momentum but will have to pull a similar performance to break down an Everton side who still harbour outside hopes of Champions League football next season.

Premier League Team News: Craig Gardner sees out his 2 match ban this weekend and Wickham is a doubt for Sunderland. Tony Hibbert is nearing fitness for the Toffees and may make the bench, but Leon Osman is a doubt after a groin injury saw him miss the midweek draw against Arsenal.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-2
Dream Team Star Man: Stephane Sessegnon

Swansea v Southampton – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

Only 3 points separate these sides in mid-table and this fixture does have a bit of an end of term feel to it. I wonder if supporters will be allowed to bring their own games in! This could actually prove to be quite an open game and a lot could depend on how The Swans deal with Rickie Lambert.

Premier League Team News: Leon Britton returns to the Swans side after missing out last week after being at the birth of his twin sons! Guly do Prado may miss out for Southampton through illness.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Rickie Lambert

West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

As I mentioned in the Sunderland summary, last week’s North East derby had everything, unless you were a Geordie!!  They need to bounce back quickly as they still need a minimum of 4 points before the end of the season to be safe from the drop.

Premier League Team News: Apart from the suspended Mulumbu, Steve Clarke pretty much has a full squad at his disposal. Tim Krul dislocated his shoulder last weekend as is out for the rest of the season for Newcastle who also will be without Marceaux and Tiote.
Premier League Betting Prediction:  1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Romelu Lukaku.

West Ham v Wigan – Saturday 20 April 2013 – 1500KO

Wigan have ripped West Ham apart twice already this season, and are probably the bet of the day today. The Hammers put in an impressive performance against Champions elect United in midweek and you wonder if they have anything left in the tank.

Premier League Team News: West Ham chairman David Gold has confirmed Joey Cole is back in the squad after injury. Wigan will recall McManaman to their starting XI as they play their 3rd fixture in a week.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-3
Dream Team Star Man: Arouna Kone

Tottenham v Manchester City – Sunday 21 April 2013 – 1330KO

This game could go a long way to decide what European competition Spurs are playing in next season, if any. They are in the middle of a rough patch at present but will be buoyed by the fact that Gareth Bale is fit to start after injury. City looked very flat against Wigan in midweek, but still managed to grab 3 points through a Carlos Tevez wonder goal.

Premier League Team News: Gareth Bale will start for Spurs, who also hope at least one of Defoe or Lennon will feature. Silva and Aguero are very doubtful for City.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-2
Dream Team Star Man: Jermain Defoe

Liverpool v Chelsea –  Sunday 21 April 2013 – 1600KO

The Reds certainly have a bit of a curse over Chelsea and will be looking for this to continue this weekend. Chelsea were mightily impressive in midweek against neighbours Fulham and Luiz scored a goal which will be shown on the highlight reels for many years. Perhaps the strangest thing about this fixture is that the away manager is more liked by the home fans than his own!!

Premier League Team News: Sterling and Borini are still out injured for the goal-shy Reds. Torress may have to settle for a place on the bench for his Anfield return. Cahill and Cole could also make the bench for Chelsea after injury.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-2
Dream Team Star Man: Eden Hazard

Manchester United v Aston Villa – Monday 22 April 2013 – 2000KO

If City lose against Tottenham on Sunday, United could take the title with a win in this fixture, however Villa seem to play better against the bigger sides and will be scrapping away for any points they can snatch.

Premier League Team News: Ashley Young has been ruled out for the season with injury, but Sir Alex has no new injury concerns. Gabby Agbonlahor should be fit to start for Villa who also welcome back Gary Gardner back from a long-term problem.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Michael Carrick

There we have it, a decent run of fixtures and quite a few which will make or break some teams fixtures. Let’s go!!
