EPL Predictions & Team News 23-25 Feb 2013

We’re back after last week’s FA Cup week, and we’ve got EPL action over the next three days including the battle for 2nd place between City and Chelsea and a North/East London grudge match.

Fulham v Stoke– Saturday 23 February 2013 – 1245 KO

The season is pretty much about getting over the line, away from the threat of relegation for these two, and I reckon the cut will fall at around 36 points. If either of these teams get dragged in they probably deserve to go down, although neither are in sparkling form with only 3 wins between them in the last 14 games

Premier League Team News: The cottages have Sascha Reither back from illness, but Richardson is still unavailable.  Brek Shea will feature for Stoke as will Marc Wilson who is on the comeback trail from a league break.  Michael Owen is doubtful with a thigh strain.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Bryan Ruiz

Arsenal v Aston Villa – Saturday 23 February 2013 – 1500 KO

Reading all the papers at the moment it’s hard to remember who the crisis club is! Both of them though would probably prefer to be stepping out on the hallowed Wembley turf in Capital One cup duty, but both suffered humiliating defeats to finalists Bradford.
Villa have had a decent break, with Arsenal playing twice and losing twice since their win against West Ham.

Premier League Team News:  Full-backs Gibbs and Sagna miss out for the Gunners who have Monreal back after being cup-tied in midweek.  Villa boss Paul Lambert will be pleased to have N’Zogbia and Agbonlahor fit.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 3-1
Dream Team Star Man: Jack Wilshere

Norwich v Everton – Saturday 23 February 2013 – 1500 KO

Another fixture with neither team really hitting their straps at the moment, with Norwich now 9 without a win this will be another difficult one for the East Anglian side as I can see Everton cancelling them out in every department.
In many ways Norwich should be looking at Everton as their business model, maybe one decent signing each season and then looking to polish some gems from the lower leagues to overachieve in the league.

Premier League Team News: Grant Holt will return for The Canaries this weekend, whose injury list is now only niggles and John Ruddy’s long term thigh problem.  Everton have real doubts over Victor Anichebe who has been in surprisingly good form recently. Seamus Coleman may make the bench.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Wes Hoolahan

QPR v Manchester United – Saturday 23 February 2013 – 1500 KO

This is clichéd writing at is very finest, but can QPR bring Dennis Bailey out of retirement for this one?  How they need someone to produce the magic.  If QPR are to reach my magic total of 36 points they need 19 points from 12 games which is do-able, however when you’ve only taken 17 from your first 26 games you can see how hard this is going to be.
Their biggest hope for today’s fixture is if Sir Alex does ‘Arry a favour and rest some players with Madrid in mind in ten days time.

Premier League Team News:  Loic Remy is still a doubt with his injury and QPR will be hoping Bobby Zamora will be fit enough to play more than 45 minutes.  There is some good news for QPR and that is United will definitely be missing trio Rooney, Scholes and Jones!
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-3
Dream Team Star Man: Ashley Young

Reading v Wigan – Saturday 23 February 2013 – 1500 KO

Arguably the biggest game of the weekend!! Both these sides currently sit inside the relegation zone and a win for either could lift them out of it.  Wigan may be slightly glad this game is in Berkshire as they have fared slightly better on their travels this season.

Premier League Team News: The Royals have doubts over Jimmy Kebe and Leigetwood for this crunch fixture whilst Wigan could finally have Alcaraz back for the first time in 6 months after he finally escaped the treatment table, on loan winger Ryo Miyaichi may also feature.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-2
Dream Team Star Man: Franco di Santo

West Bromwich Albion v Sunderland –Saturday 23 February 2013 – 1500 KO

This fixture is surely destined to be the dreaded last match on Match of The Day, the fixture only fans of the respective teams try to stay up for but inevitably fall asleep on the sofa and get woken up 3 hours later by some dodgy Rom-Com which BBC have filled their night schedules with.

Premier League Team News: Popov is still suspended after his spitting incident, whilst Steve Clarke still has the Odemwingie dilemma hanging over him.  Danny Rose will miss out for The Black Cats but Danny Graham could be handed his first start.  Cattermole is rated 50/50 for this one.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 0-0
Dream Team Star Man: Ben Foster

Manchester City v Chelsea – Sunday 24 February 2013 – 1330 KO

Intriguing fixture this one, as Chelsea will be hoping to grab 3 points against a City side who have not won in three EPL games.  If they do manage to grab the win it will leave The Blues only one point behind City.

Premier League Team News: Konpany will definitely start for City after taking longer than expected to recover from his injury and Gareth Barry is also available.  Chelsea trio of Lampard, Cole and Ivanovic will return after being rested in UEFA cup action in midweek, whilst Ba will also return after being cup-tied for the same fixture.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-1
Dream Team Star Man: Carlos Tevez

Newcastle v Southampton – Sunday 24 February 2013 – 1330KO

Newcastle have finally started playing like last season in the previous few weeks after bolstering their squad in January with roughly 18% of the French population and both these sides need at least 3 wins to see themselves edging to safety.
The Saints will still be on a high after beating City last time out in manager Pochettino’s first win in charge.

Premier League Team News: Tim Krul is a big doubt for Alan Pardew after turning an ankle in midweek against Metalist but Tioite should return after illness.  The Saints welcome back Shaw and Rameriz for this fixture.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-1
Dream Team Star Man: Pappis Cisse

West Ham United v Tottenham –Monday 25 February 2013 – 2000 KO

West Ham are turning this into a big celebration to commemorate the passing of Club Legend Bobby Moore 20 years ago this weekend and will be hoping that this will inspire the players to pull out all the stops after not having a fixture for 15 days and taking the opportunity to get some sun on their backs.
The good news for The Hammers is Jermain Defoe won’t feature for Spurs as he averages a goal a game against them since leaving the club.

Premier League Team News: The Hammers injury crisis is getting better with James Collins and Joey O’Brien fit to play some part.  Lloris should return in goal for Spurs after being rested in midweek.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Andy Carroll
