Well, if last week’s fixture list was somewhat of a damp squib, this weeks is certainly mouthwatering, and Sky can justifiably call their programme ‘Super Sunday’. The Merseyside derby followed by Chelsea v Manchester United, it doesn’t get much better than that.

EPL Predictions & Team News 27\28 Oct

My predictions last week were reasonably good, 6 correct results and 3 exact scores, and although I didn’t get the exact result with Norwich v Arsenal, I did think it would be the upset game, and wouldn’t be the walkover many Gunners fans, and perhaps Canaries were expecting!

Aston Villa v Norwich – Saturday 27th October 2012 – 12.45 KO

Although unlikely to be a classic, you can see why Sky has chosen to put this on TV. With Paul Lambert parting company with Norwich in less than amicable terms during the summer, and heading to Villa Park. Add to that the subsequent talk of legal action and counter-suing, the focus may well be on the dug-outs rather than the field, especially with both sides languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Team News: Clark to have a late fitness test for the home side, whilst Steven Whittaker could feature from the bench for Norwich.
Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Gabby Agbonlahor

Arsenal v QPR – Saturday 27th October 2012 – 15.00 KO

Arsenal always seem to be one piece short of a complete team, whether it be a keeper, centre half or ball winning midfielder, and in recent games it seems to be a goal scorer. With Henry and Van Persie outscoring the opposition at will for many seasons, will anyone step up? QPR on the other hand have problems at both ends, no wins yet in the league and they really are on an atrocious away run at present. They will be buoyed from a better performance on Sunday against Everton, but despite having a top European keeper in the nets, they are still finding ways of letting in comical goals.

Team News: Gibbs, Sagna, Wilshere and Oxlade–Chamberlain could all feature for the jaded Gunners, whilst Kieron Dyer could be fit for QPR (No joke!!)
Betting Prediction: 2-0
Dream Team Star Man: Lukas Podolski

Reading v Fulham – Saturday 27th October 2012 – 15.00 KO

I never really know what to say about Reading, sometimes you almost forget they are back in the EPL, and if you look at their points tally it tends to agree! However, at home to Fulham you’ve got to think this is a very good chance of putting their first 3 points on the board. As Gary Neville and Tinie Tempah both like to say, these things are ‘Written In The Stars’ and Pavel Pogrebnyak has got to be a good bet to score the winner over the side he joined on loan last season, but turned his back on in the summer.

Team News: Federici to return in goal for The Royals, who could also have Noel Hunt back. Fulham will be hoping Bryan Ruiz will overcome a knock.
Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Pavel Pogrebnyak

Stoke v Sunderland – Saturday 27th October 2012 – 15.00 KO

This is one of those games where it is very hard to get enthusiastic, unless of course you are a fan involved. Table wise they are pretty evenly matched, and between them have stacked up an incredible 10 draws in 15 games, and who am I to rock the boat with any other sort of prediction.

Team News: Stoke have Glenn Whelan rated as doubtful, whilst Sunderland will assess Titus Bramble’s hip problem before kick-off.
Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Ryan Shawcross

Wigan v West Ham United – Saturday 27th October 2012 – 15.00 KO

Wigan have already dismantled West Ham 4-1 in the League Cup this season, albeit beating a Hammers side that showed 9 changes to their consistent EPL side. They will be hoping that they will be able to pass and move through an effective West Ham who currently sit level on points with 5th placed Spurs. Ivan Ramis will be keen to put in a good performance at the back for The Latics after seeing a summer move to The Boleyn fall through.

Team News: Alcaraz could escape the treatment table in time for this fixture, whilst Demel, O’Brien and Taylor have all trained this week for West Ham.
Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Franco Di Santo

Manchester City v Swansea – Saturday 27th October 2012 – 17.30 KO

Now, last week I pointed out that the ESPN tea-time match was the pre-Strictly warm-up and didn’t Norwich do well! Swansea should be elated that a young Ajax team, put together for not much money did such a number on City in Champions League on Wednesday. I’m sure they will be looking to replicate a similar performance, especially as City have looked fragile at the back with only 1 clean sheet in 13 games so far this season.

City boss Mancini took the blame for the midweek defeat saying he blamed himself as he prepared badly for the game. I’m sure he has used this excuse on more than one occasion now, if I tried to pull the same thing with my boss more than once, I’m sure I would have a written warning, if not my P45!

Team News: Silva could return after an injury sustained on International duty, whilst Milner is suspended. The Swans have no new injury doubts.
Betting Prediction: 3-0
Dream Team Star Man: Carlos Tevez

Everton v Liverpool – Sunday 28th October 2012 – 13.30 KO

Everton go into the match eight places clear of their city companions, and could open up a nine point difference if the derby goes their way, which Liverpool could struggle to close. We are so used to seeing Everton have such poor starts to the season, and then go on a flyer, but it seems to be different this season. Genuine European contenders or will they suffer burn-out with a paper thin squad?

Team News: Fellani has an outside chance of being fit and Darren Gibson could return. Liverpool’s main concern is Pepe Reina’s hamstring.
Betting Prediction: 1-2
Dream Team Star Man: Luis Suarez

Newcastle v West Bromwich Albion – Sunday 28th October 2012 – 15.00 KO

The Toon Army battled through the best part of a local derby with 10 men last weekend and have a home fixture at the time of writing against Bruges on Thursday, could their legs be feeling a little weary towards the end of this fixture? West Brom have a lot of bouncing back to do after throwing away their 100% record last week, whilst leading against 10 man Manchester City.

Team News: Coloccini should be fit for Newcastle who have Tiote starting a 3 match ban. Reid and Thomas should make the Baggies bench.
Betting Prediction: 2-0
Dream Team Star Man: Demba Ba

Southampton v Tottenham – Sunday 28th October 2012 – 15.00 KO

The Saints are like your un-organised friend you go on holiday with, they look alright at first, manage to get to the airport on time; they even buy you the first pint at the bar. Then, just as you get to Passport Control, Bang! They realise they’ve lost their passport. Saints fans must feel like that at times, they’ve been leading so many games this season and managed to end up with nothing, and last week after controlling the first half against West Ham found themselves 2 down within 3 minutes of the restart.

Tottenham will be relieved they won’t have to face anyone of the quality they did last week, when Chelsea’s fab front four put on at exhibition at times. AVB, may take an opportunity to change the shape of his side and bring in Adebayor to partner Defoe.

Team News: Fox should return at full-back for Southampton and Lambert could be restored to the starting XI, whilst Bale is back in the Spurs squad after becoming a new parent. Dembele is extremely doubtful with a hip injury.
Betting Prediction: 1-3
Dream Team Star Man: Gareth Bale

Chelsea v Manchester United – Sunday 28th October – 16.00 KO

Which Chelsea are going to turn up this week? The one that played such neat football in the final third against Spurs, or the one that looked a bit of a shambles against Shakhtar? Similar questions could be put to United whose first half displays have at times been woeful, but have usually been put right at the break after the Sir Alex ‘hairdryer’ treatment. With the amount of new sponsorship coming into Old Trafford at the moment, how long will it be until the Hairdryer is sponsored by Vidal Sassoon?

Team News: Lampard is a doubt after going off in midweek, and John Terry continues his domestic suspension. Kagawa’s midweek knee injury is United’s only new worry.
Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Eden Hazard

That’s it for this week, roll on Sunday and two massive games. Catch up with us next week to see how we done!
