EPL Predictions & Team News 8 / 10 Dec 2012

What ever is going on with TV scheduling for the football this weekend? No early or late game on Saturday to enjoy on the box, but we do have a Monday fixture to make up for it. On Sunday, the live games are the derby that could go some way to deciding the title and the chance to watch a Liverpool team with no forwards!!

Arsenal v West Brom – 8 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

What has happened to Arsenal? Did you ever think we would see the day that nearing the half-way stage of the season, they would be five places behind The Baggies…? It goes to prove how over-reliant they were on one man last season. Saying that, let’s take nothing away from West Brom, their 5th place in the league is fully deserved, despite losing their last two EPL fixtures on the bounce.

Premier League Team News: The Gunners have a lot of injuries at the moment which won’t help their cause, Podolski, Sagna and Walcott are all out of this fixture. Ben Foster is still not fit for West Brom so Myhill will continue to deputise.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-0
Dream Team Star Man: Jack Wilshere

Aston Villa v Stoke City – 8 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

Stoke are plodding along quite comfortably at the moment, winning 4 of their last 5 fixtures and generally going about their business nicely. I reckon Villa fans must wish they were having a similar season, although they are on their best run of the season (3 unbeaten). Has Paul Lambert finally got Villa playing his way?

Premier League Team News: Villa will be hoping N’Zogbia is fit enough to make the bench, whilst Charlie Adam is suspended for The Potters who may have Peter Crouch back after his dental problems.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Christian Benteke

Southampton v Reading – 8 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

These two finished Runners-Up and Champions of the Championship last season, and in a way have had very similar runs this time round. They have both been full of attacking promise but defensively have been a nightmare. Nothing highlighted this more than Readings first half performance last week.

Premier League Team News: Daniel Fox is looking to be involved this weekend, but Chaplow still isn’t fit for The Saints. Danny Guthrie could be fit for Reading, but Kebe is unlikely to travel.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 3-2
Dream Team Star Man: Adam Lallana

Sunderland v Chelsea – 8 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

Chelsea had an interesting week, saying that I could probably start a match preview saying that most weeks. First off, a really great first half against West Ham, before being bullied in the second. Then setting an unwanted record for being the first Champions League Cup Holder not to make the knock-out stages of the following years competition.

I bet Sunderland wish they could bring back Niall Quinn to try and replicate a Carlton Cole performance of old!

Premier League Team News: Sunderland will be praying on the fitness of Steven Fletcher, who went off last week with an ankle injury. Chelsea still have problems with Terry and Sturridge not being fit, John Obi Mikel adds to Rafa Benetiz’s task with a 3 match suspension. Frank Lampard could replace him.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-2
Dream Team Star Man: Juan Mata

Swansea v Norwich – 8 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

Just checking I am still previewing EPL fixtures aren’t I? I may mock, but these two teams are in some serious form, The Swans have lost just 1 in the last 9, whilst Norwich are on a run that sees them unbeaten in 8.

Premier League Team News: The Swans small squad is looking stretched at the moment, but boss Laudrup should be able to call on Wayne Routledge who missed the trip to Arsenal. Norwich have no new problems.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 0-0
Dream Team Star Man: Ashley Williams

Wigan v QPR – 8 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

Another big 6 pointer down at the bottom of the table, I think I could be saying this a lot in the next few weeks, but surely QPR have got to take all three points from this, saying that they haven’t won all season so…

If Wigan beat The Hoops they will be a quite massive 11 points clear of them before Christmas.

Premier League Team News: Caldwell and Figueroa are both suspended for The Latics. Mbia and Diakete should both pass a late fitness test for Rangers.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Arouna Kone

Manchester City v Manchester United – 9 December 2012 – 13.30 Ko

We are nearly up to the two year point of when City last lost at home, and if there is one team who would love to be the ones to beat them it would be United! If United did manage to do it, they would hold a six point cushion at the top of the table with their traditional better second half of the season still to come. However a win for City would see them take themselves back to the league summit and send out a big message to Sir Alex.

As for me, I am going to sit on the fence with my prediction!

Premier League Team News: City hope David Silva will be declared fit, and Kolorov also has a chance of making the game whilst Clichy is definitely ruled out because of injury. United’s big worry is over England star Tom Cleverley.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-2
Dream Team Star Man: Carlos Tevez

Everton v Tottenham – 9 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

This has the hallmarks of a good game, as I’ve said on these previews before I haven’t seen a better left sided pairing this year than Baines and Pienaar of Everton. They will hussle and put in the hard graft and above all, they still have a lot of quality. If they can push Kyle Walker back and make him defend, which he never seems to be particularly good at, I can see Spurs having a sticky time.

Premier League Team News: Anichebe, Coleman and Mirallas are all doubtful for Everton, whilst Spurs welcome back Adebayor from suspension. Bad news though as Gareth Bale is definitely out with a hamstring problem whilst Dawson is rated as 50/50.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 2-1
Dream Team Star Man: Leighton Baines

West Ham v Liverpool – 9 December 2012 – 15.00 KO

It’s been a good week if you are a Hammers fan, first up, you stick one over your fierce rivals, then you get named as preferred bidder for the Olympic Stadium. Liverpool who have an outstanding record against West Ham will be looking to find a system where they can score without any recognised forwards. With Borini injured, Suarez suspended and Carroll out on loan at the Boleyn. Maybe a copy of the Spanish 4-6-0 coming up?

Premier League Team News: With Andy Carroll injured up until the new year, Carlton Cole will keep his place. Liverpool have Suarez suspended, and Sahin went off injured in their midweek UEFA win.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-1
Dream Team Star Man: Matty Jarvis

Fulham v Newcastle – 10 December 2012 – 20.00 KO

Two Mondays on the bounce for Newcastle on the box, they will be looking for a bit of fortune like last week when Wigan perhaps had a man harshly sent off. But full credit to Newcastle they put 10 men away well.

Fulham are on a nasty run at the moment, without a win in 7, if they don’t pick up soon they could see themselves sliding towards the bottom three.

Premier League Team News: Sascha Reither could be fit for Fulham who will be without Ruiz until January. Ben Arta and Obertan could both be named on the bench for Newcastle by boss Alan Pardew.
Premier League Betting Prediction: 1-2
Dream Team Star Man: Demba Ba

There we have it, my full Premier League predictions, team news and dream team options for the weekend! Let’s see how it plays out!
