Garmin Approach X40 Golf Wearable
For those who don’t play golf, it can often be overlooked that a round can seriously improve your fitness. And like any sport, the amount you get out of a workout depends on a whole load of variables. So while there may be plenty of round-tracking devices out there, the Garmin Approach X40 is possibly the best example of a golfing guru which doubles up as a fitness tracker.
Preloaded with more than 40,000 golf courses worldwide, the Garmin Approach X40 covers every aspect of a round of golf. Not only will you receive crucial information of hole distances and round scores, you’ll also get regular fitness updates with heart rate, calories burned and activity intensity all monitored on the slim and lightweight band.
This golf band uses Elevate wrist technology, which measures your heart rate 24/7. Unlike other fitness devices, it does this right from your wrist, so there’s no need for additional bands or equipment. Using the heart rate monitor, Approach X40 provides calories burned information and quantifies the intensity of your fitness activities.
Naturally, the Approach X40 comes with golf GPS. So, no matter where you’re teeing off, it knows exactly where you are and how far it is to the next pin. Not only that, the touchscreen display accurately shows distances to the front, back and middle of the green — even when you’re under tree cover.
Of course, the X40 will keep your score thanks to Garmin’s AutoShot round analyser and you’ll get some post-round analysis on Garmin Connect. The Garmin Connect app also gets you involved with the online golf community to share and compare your scores.
It’s water-resistant up to 50 meters if you happen to end up in the drink and runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. As well as giving the time and date, you can even sync up your Approach to your phone to get text and email alerts.
The Garmin Approach X40 golf wearable is available to pre-order now on the Garmin Website. Available in either Black/Grey, White/Black or Frost Blue/Midnight Blue, it will set Joes back around £170 ($249.99) upon its release.
