Glow Football

As you know, we like our football here at AJB and although the season may be coming to an end, the summer is very much here which means evening kick abouts in the park, garden, car park or where you have space! Now you know how it goes, just as you start getting into the game the light begins to fade and you hear all manner of excuses for missed tackles and bad shots ‘I can’t see the ball!’. Well no more, as we have been using one of the new light up footballs from the Glow Company.

Regulation size 5, the ball itself is a good looking piece of kit. It looks like a normal ball, plays like a normal ball and feels very much like a normal ball. It’s only on closer inspection that you can see the screw in battery case which houses the 6 watch type (LR44) batteries (luckily supplied!). Fill it up, flick it on and away you go. It glows a pulsating red colour through selected hexagonal panels and the stitching. The glow is via LED lights which give good brightness and should let the batteries last for a fair while.

It really does make a difference to an evening game and allows you to have a fair bit of fun as well (we were playing in pitch black with dark clothes) if you fancy something different. It’s already been featured on Soccer AM a month or so back.

Yes it’s not perfect in terms of a premier league standard football. If you do happen to make contact with the ball on the hole for the battery you can tell it feels / sounds slightly different. And if I am honest I am not sure I would fancy heading it from a height if it was done in the wrong place.

Still a great piece of kit for the park / beach when the light begins to fade, and no doubt everyone else will come over to take a look (they did with us).

You can grab the balls for a touch over 20 notes at The Glow Company who also supply your usual glow sticks and all that jazz.
