Le Coq Sportif ‘Made in France’ St Etienne 1976 Collection
Since 1882, Le Coq Sportif have been designing sportswear for some of France’s top teams and professional sportsmen, producing pieces that have graced some of the most iconic moments in French sporting history. One such moment involved the 1976 St Etienne football team as they reached the final of the European Cup.
To celebrate the launch of their Made in France collection entitled ‘REVIVAL’, Le Coq have released a jersey and tracksuit jacket in the design from that run in 1976 and we absolutely love them!
The A.S St Etienne 1976 jersey and jacket are actually the first two pieces to be released in Le Coq Sportif’s REVIVAL range, a collection which delves into the archives to bring back iconic moments from Le Coq Sportif’s sporting heritage.
The limited edition A.S St Etienne kit of 1976 was worn during an incredible European Cup run which saw St Etienne beat Glasgow Rangers and PSV on the way to a now infamous loss in the final to Bayern Munich. St Etienne legend Dominique Rocheteau played in the match and can be seen wearing the track top at Hampden Park in Glasgow, where the final took place.
Consisting of two pieces, the long-sleeve jersey and the OG tracktop, the release takes on extra significance this year as Le Coq Sportif have re-ignited their longstanding official sponsorship of ‘Les Verts’, and are once again outfitting one of France’s most successful clubs.
We love a retro throwback in our sportswear and therefore naturally love the Le Coq Sportif 1976 A.S St Etienne pieces and can’t wait to see what more they’ve got planned for the Made in France collection. You can get hold of the Jersey for £60 and the Tracktop for £120 from various outlets including Oi Polloi.
