We’re in the midst of the Olympics, one of the greatest sporting shows on earth. Here in London, some of the greatest atheletes are competing in all manner of sports and atheletics. Of course, some of the best like Darts or Snooker are conspicuously absent, and perhaps they should have brought back the tug of war, but that’s besides the point. The greatest sport for me will always be football (soccer), and watching some of the world’s younger talents on show has been quite the delight. Brazil in particular have given some truly dazzling performances and are hotly tipped to take home the gold when they face Mexico on Saturday afternoon at our own illustrious Wembley Stadium.

Meet Pele at Soccer Scene

We’re in the midst of the Olympics, one of the greatest sporting shows on earth. Here in London, some of the greatest atheletes are competing in all manner of sports and atheletics. Of course, some of the best like Darts or Snooker are conspicuously absent, and perhaps they should have brought back the tug of war, but that’s besides the point. Brazil in particular have given some truly dazzling performances and are hotly tipped to take home the gold when they face Mexico on Saturday afternoon at our own illustrious Wembley Stadium.

Brazil have often been the team to beat in international tournaments, and back in their heydey in the 1970s to 1990s they were on top of the world. Pele won everything with Brazil that he could have, all except the gold at an Olympic games. Whilst he may never have achieved it he’s here in London supporting his national team, urging them to win what he never did. But rather than just sit about and watch the game, he’s taking time out to meet football fans in London down at Soccer Scene from 13:00 – 14:00 before he has to rush off to the game. It’d be foolish to miss out meeting one of the greatest players ever. Whilst you are there, it wouldn’t hurt to have a look around, as the store certainly stocks almost every replica kit, new and old, around. Its a proper soccer specialist shop, a bit like the fancy running stores you can go to, only for a much more exciting and enjoyable sport!

The date is Saturday 11th August. The address is Soccer Scene, 56 Carnaby Street, London, W1F 9QF. The time is 13:00 – 14:00. We’ll be going, and in fact a lot of people we know want to go down too. Its going to be busy! But of course it would be, we’re talking about Pele!

You can’t talk about the best players ever to have graced the pitch without mentioning his name, amongst esteemed company such as Cruyff, Maradonna and lately Messi. For me, a truly great player is one that has been oustanding nationally and domestically, that has won almost everything and effectively shown they can carry a whole team to glory, such as those three golden oldies above.
