National Burger Month at Lord’s Tavern
We can’t imagine there’s too many Joes who would turn their noses up at a burger and a day at the cricket. Which is why we were more than willing to make the trek to St John’s Wood last week to head to the Home of Cricket and its Lord’s Tavern Pub, where they’re celebrating National Burger Month with an international themed burger menu!
Yes, to mark the beginning of a summer of international Test cricket, the Lord’s Tavern is offering Joes five suitably themed burgers, each celebrating the cuisine of a different renowned cricket nation. Taste the flavours of Australia, New Zealand, the West Indies, England and the subcontinent in the historical setting of Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Lord’s Tavern bar and restaurant is situated right next to the famous Grace Gates at Lord’s Cricket Ground, and offers a laid-back dining and drinking experience at one of the most historic venues in our nation’s capital, and undoubtedly the most iconic cricket ground in the world.
The menu at the Tavern has been crafted by Head Chef Mervy Hettiarachige Don, and includes the likes of a jerk chicken burger with caramelised mango salsa (in honour of the flavours of the West Indies), which we sampled and can thoroughly recommend.
Also on the menu is a beef burger with cheese, bacon, egg and beetroot in homage to the Aussie love of creative burger combinations. Whatever your taste preference, though, you’ll find something to tickle your taste buds. We’d also recommend ordering one of the Tavern’s in-house gigantic sausage rolls. Fresh from the oven, it’ll feed four of you at the very least!
Each burger at the Lord’s Tavern is priced at £12 and you can get a matching regional beer for just an extra £1.50. For more information about Lord’s Tavern visit the Lord’s Website.
