The World Cup may have only just finished but Nike aren’t taking a break and have just won the first 3 points of the 2018/19 season with the launch of a completely new football boot. Take a look at the brand new PhantomVSN – a series that’ll be replacing the Magista line.

Nike Football Launch Brand New PhantomVSN Boot

The Nike PhantomVSN is not only a new boot, it’s also a whole new concept. Nike’s latest addition to the family is built for ultimate comfort and control, with designer Phil Woodman conceiving and building the boot from the inside-out. It starts with an internal Quadfit mesh bootie “that conforms to fit most any foot but retains its shape and will not overstretch,” according to Woodman.

While not visible from the outside, the Quadfit mesh’s feel is so unrivalled that the boot will be match-ready ‘right out of the box’ thanks to the four axes of fibres providing support in all directions. There’s a brand new ‘Ghost Lace’ system too which provides a customised fit for each player and enables laces to be discretely tucked away, providing an even striking surface.

The visible upper is predominantly constructed from Nike Flyknit to provide premium touch on the ball. The boot’s dominant visual cue is the medial triangle, which “roughly covers the surface between 3 prominent bones in the foot: the calcaneus, talus, and first metatarsal head.” Essentially, each section is built for different footballing actions.

On the bottom of the boot, there’s a new FEA-informed traction pattern to accommodate quick multi-directional cuts. The studs are housed on a lightweight, responsive plate with enhanced zonal support for the foot. There’s also some ACC (All Conditions Control) coating, weather-proofing the boot.

The Nike PhantomVSN is set to go on sale in ‘Black Op’ on Wednesday 18th July, while the ‘Raised on Concrete’ and ‘Young Blood’ versions will be arriving over the next couple of weeks. Players set to wear the boot include Philippe Coutinho, Kevin De Bruyne, and Leon Goretzka. Head over to the Nike Website for more details.

During the World Cup, Nike released a bespoke edition of the Nike ‘Meu Jogo’ Mercurial Vapor 360 for Neymar to wear. Translating to ‘My Game’, the special edition boot comes in a canary yellow colourway which fades into a graphic print on the lower half of the upper.
