Football boots have come a long way in recent years and leading this development is Nike. They have just announced their new football boots – the Nike Magista. And they are set to revolutionise football boots forever.
Nike have incorporated their Flyknit technology that is more commonly found in their running shoes and has made huge strides over the last 12 months. This lightweight design is supposed to give the player greater feel and therefore better ball control. Now, we’ve always been a little sceptical when it comes to how much protection these lightweight football boots give the top of the foot and of course avoiding that infamous metatarsal injury, however Nike have confirmed there is still adequate protection to top of the of foot.
Nike has been developing the Magista boots for four years and they are set to become one of their most popular boots with several big name players already looking to wear the boots across Europe and the World Cup including Andres Iniesta, Mario Gotze, Thiago Silva and David Luiz.
The design of the boots is what makes these boots really stand out. A Dynamic Fit Collar helps to secure the boot firmly around the ankle providing a comfortable and supportive fit. Nike designed the boots with playmakers in mind. Players who are always on the move and dictating the game with quick passes and movement which is why both Iniesta and Gotze were so heavily involved with the design.
An interesting change of direction in football boot design here from Nike. But we can’t help think about sweaty feet…
