The England Football Team’s new 2020 home and away kits have been unveiled by Nike using bespoke graphic prints that depict a “community of lions”
A new football kit is always a big deal for fans but a new kit for your national team is a very big deal. Today Nike have unveiled the latest home and away kits for the England national team.
The new kit features bespoke graphic prints across them that depict a “community of lions” which according to the press release represents “players and fans together, united in sharing a dream”.
“This team is closer than it’s ever been before — when we put on that England jersey, all club rivalries are set aside,” says captain Harry Kane. “We’re united in our goal of representing our fans far and wide. This collection captures that feeling of togetherness we hold so dearly.”
England’s new white home shirt features an almost retro design. There’s a dark blue crew neck and matching side stripes. Both the collar and the stripes are embossed with the “community of lions” graphics. The England crest, Nike Swoosh and squad number are all centred on the shirt. The shirt is complemented by dark blue shorts and white socks.
The away kit a bold dark blue colour with red accents. Unlike the home kit, it features a fold down collar with buttons that read “We are Lions/We are England”. The design is very ’90s and easily one of the cooler away kits of recent years.
“There is a feel-good factor surrounding the England team, and we wanted to capture all that vibrancy and try some new things,” says Scott Munson, VP, Nike Football Apparel. “The collection balances a classic home identity with an adventurous, eye-catching away kit.”
The kit is part of a wider collection that includes a red pre-match jersey and a blue drill top. All are available to order from the Nike.com store from today and from Nike Stores from September 4th.
