Six Nations Week 3 Preview
Week three of the RBS Six Nations 2013 is here! After England Squeezed out a memorable win in Dublin, the Welsh break french hearts and the Scots get back on track against the Italians. Will this week show some surprises?
With Jonathan Sexton injured the number 10 shirt is up for grabs and Owen Farrell needs a composed display against the French to really set a marker down as a consistent international performer, against the Irish he slotted everything that came his way and he will need to be on his game against the French.
Stuart Hogg has also laid down a marker to the Fullback berth, scoring a beauty of a try against the Azurri last week, also Leigh Halfpenny was sure under the highball and bossed his wingers well. There will be a few disappointed faces come selection as Alex Goode is also playing well and Rob Kearney is also solid.
Onto this weekend
Italy vs Wales – Stadio Olimpico Kick off Saturday 23rd Feb 14:30 live on the BBC
Wales got back on track last time around with a cracking last gasp try by George North to see off the French, whilst the Italians were back to their Jeckll and Hyde self with a lacklustre display against the Scotys who ran them ragged. Without their Talisman Sergio Parisse after he was sent off for swearing at the ref playing for Stade Francais last weekend I think the Italians will be slightly subdued. However the Stadio Olimpico crown will get behind the Azurri and it will be another naibighting encounter, however I think the welsh’s momentum will get them over the line this week
Prediction – Wales by 6
England vs France – Twickenham kick off Saturday 23rd Feb 17:00 live on the BBC
The Big One! Top vs bottom.
Even though this is a top versus bottom clash, Le Crunch always seems to bring a mouthwatering encounter, with both sides deciding on big bash centre pairings, it will be brutal. Tuilagi vs Bastareau will be very interesting, and there will be some sparks flying!
A wounded French team are not to be sniffed at, an upset could be on the cards but I expect Chris Robshaw and his red rose men to pull through
Prediction – England by 4
Scotland vs Ireland – Murrayfield Stadium kick off Sunday 24th Feb 14:00 live on the BBC
With the Irish losing Jonathan Sexton and Simon Zebo to injury, and with Stephen Ferris now out for the season, I think a wobbly irish side could be surprised with a Scots side now on a high following their drubbing of the Irish, I expect home advantage to play a part, and I would like to see the Jocks pull off a win
Prediction – Scotland by 2
