Sir Allen Stanford, the man behind the ‘Stanford Super Series’ involving the England cricket team and the aptly named ‘Standford Super Stars’ (does this guy like his own name or what?!) has been charged over an alleged $8bn investment fraud. The US Securities and Exchange Commission has applied for a temporary restraining order against Stanford and the Stanford Financial Group.
The Texan billionaire and cricket promoter series has been blighted from the start ever since flying in to Lords last year with a perspex box full of cash! The game it’s self was marred by a poor pitch and lighting, Sir Allen then came under fire after he was pictured with England Players WAGS sitting on his lap.
