UFC 162: Silva vs Weidman
Last updated on November 15th, 2015 at 12:08 pm
With the pound for pound king of the MMA world putting his title up for grabs, this is a card which you just have to watch. Many fighters are betting against Silva for the first time ever and supplemented with some interesting fights, this should be an outstanding card.
Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman – UFC Middleweight Title Fight
The spider puts his title on the line for the first time since his last middleweight fight exactly a year ago and comes up against undefeated fighter Weidman. This is a bit of a weird match up for me as Weidman hasn’t beaten anyone you would consider a top contender and seems to just be that Anderson has beaten everyone else. Anderson Silva is undoubtedly the best MMA fighter of all time and pound for pound king so why is it that so many fighters think Weidman can win? There may be a lack of focus from Silva but when that door closes, he will can finish the fight in the blink of an eye.
Prediction: Silva via TKO Round 3
Frankie Edgar vs Charles Oliveira
The second outing at 145 lbs for Frankie Edgar comes against Oliveira who despite being young is vastly experienced. With submissions being Oliveira’s strength, this is a great match up for Edgar who can use his wrestling to control where this fight goes and having beaten B J Penn twice, Edgar won’t be that worried about getting submitted if he does go to ground. Having so many decisions on his record, Edgar could really go with a dominant finish here to put him straight back into a title fight.
Prediction: Edgar via Decision
Tim Kennedy vs Roger Gracie
There is something special about a UFC fight that contains a Gracie and this is no different. Both fighters are aiming to make waves in the UFC after coming from Strikeforce and this could go two ways, a stand up war or one for the purists which spends most of the time on the ground.
Prediction: Gracie via submission Round 1
Mark Munoz vs Tim Boetsch
What a fight this is! Two hugely powerful guys that should let it all go in the Octagon. Both fighters are coming off a loss following a decent win streak so the winner will be hugely important. Most likely the most exciting fight on the card so don’t miss it.
Prediction: Boetsch via TKO Round 2
Cub Swanson vs Dennis Siver
Two win streaks are going off against each other in this one but Swanson is favourite for me. A win here will put him right into the title mix.
Prediction: Swanson via Submission Round 1
