It’s fair to say sometimes we cover stuff that may not be all that sexy on paper – and the Ecomo smart water bottle certainly falls into that category. But that doesn’t mean it’s not useful. The Ecomo water bottle has been described as ‘the world’s first bottle that tests and filters water.’
The Ecomo Bottle aims to bring clean water to Joes whenever they need it, while also minimising the use of plastic bottles. As well as testing the water for contaminants, it also filters out those impurities.
Ecomo is simple to use. Once filled, simply shaking the bottle will test out the contaminants. The bottle’s 3-in-1 filtration system can then remove most major contaminants, such as pesticides, petrochemical products, bacteria, and most heavy metals.
The smart bottle comes with three filter systems; an Activated Carbon Filter to remove chlorine, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and petrochemical products; an Ion Exchange Filter to remove heavy metals such as lead, mercury, copper and cadmium; and a Nano-fiber Microfiltration Membrane, with a pore size smaller than 0.2 micro-meters, which filters up to 99.9% of bacteria in your water.
You’ll also get a wearable activity tracker thrown in for good measure which computes your hydration needs, tracks your intake and alerts you if you’re about to down some bad agua – it’s also compatible with the Apple Watch and the FitBit.
The Ecomo smart water bottle is available over at Kickstarter where it’s already smashed its target with a week left of funding. Head over to the Ecomo Kickstarter Website where you can get hold of one for around £110 ($139) with deliveries expected in March 2017.
