As we’ve said many times before, vinyl is thriving. With sales quadrupling in the past three years, manufacturers are getting creative with their designs to stand out in an essentially new but very competitive market. The latest in the line is the rather eye-catching Floating Record Vertical Turntable!
The Floating Record is a high-performance turntable that plays your records vertically through built-in, dynamic, full-range stereo speakers (or via RCA line out). This reimagined turntable possesses technology that uses audiophile-grade materials and components. The result is something aesthetically striking and the makers Gramovox say the sound doesn’t suffer as a result.
Gramovox say that the Floating Record is for everyone, from the first-time record listeners to the seasoned vinyl enthusiasts. As such, Joes also won’t need to set up the cartridge or purchase additional outboard gear such as amps or speakers, although you have the options if you want something special.
The main advantage of the Floating Record, baring its look, is that while traditional record players take up a lot of space and require additional components, the integrated design allows it to beautifully fit into most environments with ease.
Joes will easily be able to switch between 33 ⅓ and 45 RPM by moving the silicon belt over the inner or outer groove of the middle gear, and record clamps for both types of records are included. The Audio Technica AT95E is a warm sounding cartridge with a smooth high end, sweet mids and rich low end.
The Floating Record vertical turntable is being sold on Kickstarter for around £220 ($349) and you can get hold of it in either Maple or Walnut. We love the look of it and we’re clearly not the only ones. An initial target of $50,000 has been smashed just days into the campaign. So get over to the Floating Record Kickstarter Website and join in the action!
