If you’re into your sci-fi or have even just ever watched the likes of Pacific Rim, RoboCop or Iron Man, chances are you’ve fantasised about running around in your very own giant mechanically suit. Well, now is your chance with these ridiculously awesome Robot Suits which are due to go on sale later this year!
The Method-2 Robot Suit is made by South Korean robotics experts Hankook Mirae. Standing at 13ft tall and weighing in at no less than 1.5 tons, the suits come with controllable limbs, all controlled via a centralised cockpit – just like the ones in Pacific Rim.
The Hankook Mirae mechanic suit was made in collaboration with Vitaly Bulgarov, a ‘conceptual designer and a dedicated 3D modelling enthusiast’ who’s worked on the likes of RoboCop and Terminator: Genisys. As such, the suit not only resembles some of the sci-fi film greats, it also functions like one, allowing users to explore territories too dangerous for humans to pass unprotected.
The product has taken nearly two years of work to get to this stage, with almost $200 million of investment backing it. But while the user can move all four limbs, the company has said that the robot is still in its early stages of development, with the chairman saying the product was ‘taking baby steps.’
Therefore expect the Hankook Mirae Method-2 Robot Suit Look to be fully unveiled in late 2017, where prices are already being quoted at around the £6.75 million mark. We’ll be sure to keep you updated, but for now head over to the Vitaly Bulgarov Website for more details.
