Hot off the press from Milan Design Week 2019, IKEA has unveiled a collaborated with luxury tech designers Sonos. Coming under the name of ‘Symfonisk’, the release sees a table lamp and bookshelf each incorporate speakers to offer premium audio quality as well as doubling up as homeware.
The IKEA x Sonos Symfonisk table lamp and bookshelf speakers are designed to bridge the gap between function and form, and blend effortlessly into the home. Both products in the collection have in-built Wi-Fi speakers and are compatible with Sonos’ wireless sound system.
Described as “the loudest table lamp ever”, the Symfonisk table lamp features an almost bulbous light diffuser at the top and a base that doubles as an in-built speaker. It’s set to be available as either a light-grey speaker with a white light-diffuser or as a black speaker with a gold light-diffuser.
But for us the standout in the collection is the Symfonisk bookshelf speaker. The wall-mounted, rectangular speaker can be placed horizontally and used as a bookshelf, or hung on a kitchen rail by its hook. Available in light grey or black, the speaker can also be placed on a shelf and used as a bookend.
At the moment there’s no official release date for IKEA x Sonos Symfonisk table lamp and bookshelf speakers, but we do know that the book-shelf speaker will be priced at £99 and the table lamp speaker comes in at £179. Find out more over at the IKEA and Sonos websites.
