Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 568 Clock
World-renowned Swiss watch and clock manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre has just revealed its latest model, an updated version of their gorgeous Atmos clock. Introducing the Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 568 Clock.
The new Atmos 568 was designed in partnership with famed designer Marc Newson, his third Atmos clock with Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Australian timepiece designer has been responsible for some of the most iconic wristwatches and sleek hourglasses on the planet, including no less than the Apple Watch.
Powered by air and cased in crystal glass, the Atmos clock’s classical aesthetic has been reworked to resemble something far more contemporary while still preserving all its essential features. All of the Atmos’ 211 components, for example, can be seen working through the glassware.
In order for the light to shine directly on the Atmos without altering its colours, the Atmos 568 is encased in crystal produced by Baccarat. Described as ‘beautiful’ and ‘noble’ by Newson, Baccarat have been producing high-end crystal glassware for 250 years now and though the base thick and sturdy for stability, the walls of the body are as thin as 13mm.
Like all Atmos clocks, the 568 runs on an exceptionally efficient mechanism powered by air, thanks to a special mix of gas inside a sealed capsule that expands and contracts with minute changes in ambient temperature – a one degree change in temperature is enough to run the clock for two days. Shaped like the bellows of an accordion, the changing length of the capsule winds the clock’s mainspring.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 568 Clock will be going up for sale this December and will be priced around the £23,000 mark. Head over to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Website for more details.
