Meridian has been around for a while, but whilst we don’t all have the fondest memories, a shift into the luxury home entertainment market has seen the company go from strength to strength in recent years and the new Meridian 810 Reference Video System is only going to enhance that reputation.
Offering ‘the most realistic digital video projection system in the world‘, the new system features two primary parts, the Meridian 810 Reference Projector and the 810 Reference Video Scaler. The 810 Projector features an entirely new D-ILA-based engine, that now offers a massive 10 megapixels (4096 x 2400 pixel resolution) – more than even the most recent digital cinema projectors.
To give you an every day comparison, your Full HDTV at home with its 1080p is just 2 megapixels. The projector is powered by a PKI Xenon lamp, rated to 4000 lumens, and a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1.
The 810 Reference Video Scaler features the world renowned Marvell Qdeo video processing technology, and will scale any digital source (480i to 1080p) to the full 10-megapixel resolution and can do so working in 4:3, 16:9 or 2.35:1.
Now as you can imagine, this kit doesn’t come cheap, depending on options, lens and the purpose costs are between £125,000- £140,000, and each Meridian 810 Reference Video System is individually calibrated and takes over four days to complete!! For more information, head over to Meridian Manchester.
