New HTC Desire Handsets
HTC held a conference in London this morning and have confirmed details of a couple of new Smartphones that are coming to Europe, the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Desire Z. The Desire HD is basically the Euro version of the HTC Evo 4G that hit the states earlier this year. Infact it is pretty much identical apart from a different back, with the battery entering via a slot instead.
The main new kid on the block in the HTC Desire Z, running Android 2.2 this little baby is a 3.7-inch touchscreen hinged, that will pop open to reveal a standard qwerty keyboard for those preferring the classic feel of buttons (yes what are buttons?!). You will also find a 5 megapixel camera, including 720p HD video recording. Power comes from the 800MHz Qualcomm processor and you will have 802.11n Wi-Fi as standard.
The HTC Desire HD is pretty much the same handset as the American EVO with 4.3-inch WVGA display, 720p video recording, HDMI out, an 8 megapixel camera mounted on it’s rear and all powered by that 1GHz Snapdragon processor. This is the current flagship of the HTC range and rightfully so. It is as sexy as hell and the HDMI output is a great idea and the screen just oozes class.
Finally both phones will be running the latest Android OS and the new HTCSense. HTC’s own software that includes maps, picture & video editing, 10-second boot and most impressively the sync system with HTCSense.com. HTCSense.com allows you to sync, data wipe, phone alert (like an alarm for when you lose your phone) all remotely via the site. Cool huh?
Will either of these knock the iPhone of it’s perch? Not quite is our opinion, but Apple towers must be a little bit worried and will be looking over it’s shoulder a little bit more often…
