As we can’t really control what interesting things pop up from day to day we have decided to add a few new features. The first one, after my addiction to twitter is going to be TwitterTuesday (genius I know!!). I am going to ease you in slowly and have chosen my top 10 twitter design backgrounds;

Over the past few weeks I have been browsing many profiles looking for people of interest and on my travels I have maybe viewed hundreds, if not thousands of twitter pages, and you know what? Many of them are shockingly bad! I am talking people with thousands of visitors and hundreds of updates. Now I don’t know whether this is an American thing (and no offense to our stateside friends) but there seems to be a common theme of tacky, personal profiles on the left hand side? All with a terrible personal picture and link to some website guaranteeing you 1 million followers in 7 clicks. Well don’t believe it obviously, and there is more to twitter than how many followers you have.

So it is time to be inspired, think out of the box and do something different. Here are my top 10 twitter backgrounds of people I follow;

@theleggett – So simple, yet so personal. good use of colour and actually a small image to increase the load times.

@chadmcmillan – OK so it is nearly a tacky left hand profile, but I love the contrasts and styles, and then finishing in the bottom right with full colour.

@AskDKLive – So retro and bright I love it! Only disappointment is the tiled image, I would have taken it into a block background colour at the bottom…

@kmesiab – Theme based on Mesiab Labs, and K is the CEO. Awesome use of illustrations, also check out @tysonthequick.

@espn – Hardly an earth moving idea but possibly one of the most iconic images in American sports. I love it.

A few that nearly made the top 10;
@jamesmalach – Purely for the kid in the picture, so so funny

Think I have missed some out? Let me know @stuartflatt or in the comments section below.

I work on 1280 x 1024 on my laptop and 17inch monitor and I didn’t include some backgrounds purely because most of the hard work is hidden because people only tested on their widescreens.

If you missed any of my previous twitter posts, take a look at;
