Top 5 iPhone Apps of the Week

Here we are again for another instalment and our must have iPhone Apps of the week.
1. Sliceit – 0.59p
It’s hard to say it, but this new app is pushing Angry Birds in the addiction stakes, not only that but it is good for the brain too! You will be given a shape and a pencil, you will then be told how many parts you must cut the shape into using a select number of lines. Sounds pretty easy, but then add to the fact that each part must be the same size (within tolerance) and it gets pretty dam difficult! As you progress further there will also be certain areas that you cannot draw through which adds to the complexity. I have been on it for a few days and still no where near completing it. 4.5 / 5.
2. Stair Dismount – Free
An interesting ‘game’ here. The general idea is that you select a staircase from a range of staircases and then push a person down the stairs and you score points for as many bones in the body you can break. Not the most solid idea for an app we have come across but it strangely addictive in a perverse kind of way. This app includes the added bonus of being able to grab a picture from Facebook where you can put a friend/loved ones face onto the person you push down the stairs. It doesn’t get much better than that does it? 3.5/5
3. Virgin Atlantic – Free
A great free app here from Mr Branson and the Virgin team. The app allows you to track and monitor the progress of their entire fleet in the sky in real time. A great UI allows you to see which plane is where in the world and track its progress as it heads towards its destination. You can input a specific flight and track its flight path and also receive an alert when the plane lands safe and sound. A great app if you have friends and family flying with virgin, but is also handy if you want to see where any virgin plane is in the world just for your reference. 4/5
4. Livescore.com – Free
This live sports scores app is a great alternative to the Skysports Score Centre app (which is awesome). This app scores kudos as it allows you to get the scores from a wide range of sports as they happen. A simple menu system and quick and easy score updates that just give you the core information such as goalscorer, time and yellow/red cards makes this app really useful if you want a quick update on the scores. Featuring scores from multiple leagues and competitions from around the world this app is very good and most of all it’s free!! 4/5
5. Doodle Jump – 0.59p
Ok so this app has been around for a long time now but it deserves a mention for being excruciatingly addictive. A simple jumping based game where you have to jump on various platforms to get as high as possible. Sounds boring? I can assure you it as a top game with great graphics and game play from the guys at Lima Sky which is why it has been in the top 25 chart for as long as I can remember. Most definitely worth a download and falls into the Angry Birds calibre of apps. 5/5
